CyberSEE: Strengthening cooperation and real-time information exchange between Law Enforcement Agencies and Computer Emergency Response Teams

In June 2024, the CyberSEE project supported the Albanian State Police in organising a regional workshop within the framework of the EU policy cycle EMPACT, the cyber-attacks priority.

The Albanian State Police took on the role of leader for an action aimed at strengthening the cooperation and real-time information exchange between Law Enforcement Agencies and Computer Emergency Response Teams. This action will focus on establishing a collaborative network among the Western Balkan countries to enhance regional cooperation and share best practices with European Union Member States on cybercrime.

The event gathered experts from countries in South-East Europe, Ukraine, France and EUROPOL and facilitated the exchange of practical experiences on joint responses to cyber-attacks and explored possibilities for future policy and regulatory actions. The participants openly shared their capabilities, challenges, strategic priorities and some examples of successful operations, while EUROPOL highlighted their support through new concepts such as operational sprints and the cyber intelligence gateway.

The next activities will consist of joint cyber incident response exercises, involving experts from multiple Western Balkan countries and European Union Member States in simulated cyber-attack scenarios.

The CyberSEE project remains committed to further assist on fostering cooperation and enabling information sharing between criminal justice authorities and cybersecurity institutions for investigating cybercrime.
