CyberSouth+ and the South Programme V

The CyberSouth+ joint project of the European Union and Council of Europe contributed to the 3rd Steering Committee meeting of the South Programme V “Protecting human rights, the rule of law and democracy through shared standards in the Southern Mediterranean”. Results of co-operation on cybercrime with Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine* and Tunisia under the CyberSouth+ project were shared with participants during this meeting held in Brussels and online on 24 September.

The South Programme, currently in its fifth phase, supports on-going reforms in the Southern Mediterranean region to counter crime and enhance human security while ensuring international human rights and rule of law standards.

The CyberSouth+ complements these efforts by working with criminal justice institutions of all eight project partners to address the specific challenges of cybercrime and electronic evidence.

Co-ordination between capacity building initiatives in the justice sector in the Southern Mediterranean region is crucial to ensure a comprehensive approach to reforms, maximize efforts and promote international co-operation.
