On 28 February 2022, on the occasion of the workshop organised for the Lebanese stakeholders, the CyberSouth project initiated a new series of in-country workshops dedicated to the development of a domestic toolkit for first responders to cybercrime investigations.
In the given international context, strengthening of criminal justice capacities to fight cybercrime is more relevant than ever.
The discussion in the workshop focused on the relevance of a domestic toolkit for first responders to cybercrime investigations, concept and responsibilities. Furthermore, the steps to be taken, as outlined by the Guide for first responders to cybercrime investigations prepared under the CyberSouth project, were introduced.
Representatives of the Cyber intelligence Unit and Bureau for Countering Cybercrime of the Internal Security Forces of Lebanon presented the structure of their units, procedural aspects on reporting cybercrime offences and initiation of criminal investigations.
The CyberSouth Project will continue to support the Lebanese counterparts on the implementation of the Guide for first responders or on the development of a guide tailored to their domestic legislation and needs.
