On 8-9 April 2025, the CyberSouth+ project, a joint initiative of the European Union and the Council of Europe, organised an online workshop on investigating illegal use of virtual assets for Palestinian prosecutors and law enforcement representatives.
The aim of the workshop was to enhance investigations and prosecutions of cases involving virtual assets in Palestine*, by promoting the application of international legal standards and good practices.
The criminal justice professionals gained a solid understanding of the types of virtual assets including how they work and how to trace transactions and what data and evidence to be obtained. Through real-world case studies, they were exposed to the steps to be followed and tools to be used conducting such in investigations.
The Council of Europe will continue to support the authorities of Palestine* in strengthening domestic legislation and operational capabilities for fighting against cybercrime and investigating illegal use of virtual assets through dedicated capacity-building initiatives.
