Exciting news for the cybercrime experts: the Cybercrime Programme Office (C-PROC), through the CyberSEE joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe, is launching the first edition of the Cyber-Skills Sharing Programme! This initiative aims to enhance global collaboration and strengthen efforts to combat cybercrime.
The Programme will bring together cybercrime practitioners from 50 countries, including law enforcement agencies, 24/7 Points of Contact, representatives from Ministries of Justice and Prosecution, Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs), and judicial and law enforcement training institutions. Through bilateral exchanges, participants will share good practices, enhance technical capabilities, and foster international cooperation on cybercrime and electronic evidence. By supporting the international sharing of practitioners’ skills and expertise, the programme contributes to the global efforts to fight against cybercrime as to ensure a more secure cyberspace.
One of the first enrolled participants, Olivije Zimonja, Head of Cybercrime Division in Bosnia and Herzegovina, expressed his enthusiasm and expectations: "I believe this programme is a great opportunity to exchange knowledge, gain new skills and connect with cybercrime experts. Learning from different institutions' approaches will enhance my expertise and benefit my institution. Practical case exchanges are the most effective way to learn, and I look forward to applying these insights to strengthen our national fight against cybercrime."
Nenad Bogunovic, 24/7 Contact Point and Chief inspector of the Serbian Police Cybercrime Unit, shared his motivation for joining: "This programme is a great opportunity to exchange experiences, especially in cybercrime investigations, electronic evidence sharing, and using the 24/7 Network. Sharing real cases will help colleagues enhance their skills, and I look forward to networking with experts and strengthening the 24/7 Network’s role in cybercrime investigations."
This initiative aligns with the Council of Europe’s commitment to promote the international legal standards – Convention on Cybercrime (Budapest Convention) and its Protocols – and good practices on cybercrime and electronic evidence by observing human rights and rule of law.
Nominations are to be collected by 1 March 2025, while the deadline for submitting applications is 15 April 2025.
Stay tuned for new initiatives to develop cyber expertise and cooperation!
