Between 20 and 22 September 2023, more than 70 representatives of the criminal justice authorities of Mozambique gathered in Maputo to discuss the potential reforms of the national legislation on cybercrime and electronic evidence, necessary to bring the legal framework in line with the Convention on Cybercrime (Budapest Convention).
The workshop was co-organised by the GLACY+ project in collaboration with INTIC (Instituto Nacional de Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação) and generated a list of potential amendments. The aim was to ensure harmonisation with the international standards of the Convention on Cybercrime and to establish a roadmap for future consideration of the national authorities, leading the reform process in the country.
The Council of Europe will continue the co-operation with the Mozambican authorities to promote consistent cybercrime legislation, in line with rule of law and human rights standards.
