50 stakeholders from of the Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation, the National Cybersecurity Coordination Centre, the Financial Intelligence Unit, the Judiciary of Sierra Leone and service providers from Sierra Leone participate in a workshop on the benefits of the Convention on Cybercrime.
The workshop organised within the scope of the GLACY+ project raised awareness of policymakers and key stakeholders from Sierra Leone on the process of accession to the Convention on Cybercrime (Budapest Convention).
Needs and priorities of the key authorities in terms of capacity building were also discussed, considering the future inclusion of the country as a priority for the Global Action on Cybercrime Enhanced (GLACY-e) project. The need to mainstream human rights and rule of law standards in both the legal framework and capacity building plan was acknowledged by the key stakeholders.
The Council of Europe will continue to work to with the authorities of Sierra Leone to enhance the capacities of the criminal justice system to address cybercrime and ensure observance of rule of law and protection of fundamental rights.
