CyberCrime@EAP III: Activities
The project Cybercrime@EAP III is currently holding its IV Regional Meeting of the project in Chisinau, Moldova, in cooperation with the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Moldova.
The agenda of the meeting, held on the dates of 11-12 September 2017, draws upon the current initiatives and key issues of public-private cooperation on cybercrime that are topical in the Eastern Partnership region. Discussions on subjects of application of procedural safeguards and guarantees under Article 15 of the Budapest Convention on cybercrime, the interplay between the obligations to retain and preserve data, liabilities of Internet service providers and cooperation with multinational companies like Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft and similar players are shaping the agenda of this two-day meeting.
The Regional Meeting was opened by the address of the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Moldova, representatives of the EU and Council of Europe in the country, and followed by presentations and discussions of experts from Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Netherlands and the United Kingdom on various items of the agenda. The meeting is also the opportunity for main stakeholders of the project – criminal justice officials, data protection authorities and communications regulators – to discuss and set the agenda of the remaining activities of the project in 2018, as well as plan ahead for 2018.
