Paraguay becomes the 47th State to sign the Second Additional Protocol to the Convention on Cybercrime

Today, 24 September 2024, Ms Cynthia María FILÁRTIGA LACROIX, Ambassador of Paraguay to France, signed the Second Additional Protocol to the Convention on Cybercrime, on enhanced co-operation and disclosure of electronic evidence. The event took place in Strasbourg in the presence of Bjørn Berge, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe. With this, the Protocol now has 47 signatories (2 ratifications and 45 signatures not yet followed by ratification).

 

The Second Additional Protocol was opened for signature on 12 May 2022 within the framework of an international conference in Strasbourg, France. It offers innovative tools, such as direct cooperation with registrars and service providers in other Parties or expedited means of cooperation in emergency situations.  Efficient and effective tools for cooperation are backed up by a strong system of human rights and rule of law safeguards, including for the protection of personal data.
