The Dominican Republic initiated drafting a new national legislation on the protection of privacy and personal data in compliance with the Council of Europe's Convention 108+, the modernized landmark instrument in this field.
In order to have the data protection law in line with international standards, the Dominican Republic has requested the Council of Europe’s support through the organisation of a drafting workshop, held on 16-18 December 2019.
Two international experts, under the guidance of the Data protection Unit of the Council of Europe and in the framework of the GLACY+ project, led drafting discussions, in close cooperation with representatives of the national govermenent and all the interested stakeholders.
