At the occasion of the 48th Plenary meeting of the T-PD (17 – 19 June 2025), the Committee shall elect the Data Protection Commissioner for the Council of Europe from a list of names drawn up by the Secretary General following a public call for candidates.

The Data Protection Commissioner is independent and is not a Council of Europe staff member. The Commissioner monitors and ensures the application of the Council of Europe’s internal Regulations on the Protection of Personal Data and examines complaints from data subjects concerning alleged infringements of their rights under these Regulations.

Interested candidates are invited to consult the public call for candidates for further information. The deadline for applying is 30 April 2025.
