On the occasion of the 4th Summit of Heads of States and Government of the Council of Europe in Reykjavík, Dominique HASLER, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Education and Sports of Liechtenstein, transmitted the instrument of ratification of the Protocol amending the Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to the Processing of Personal Data (CETS No. 223) to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.
Liechtenstein has been Party to Convention 108 since 2004, and now becomes the 24th State to ratify the modernised Convention 108 (Convention 108+).
This important event marks another step towards the threshold of 38 States necessary to the entry into force of this fundamental instrument, unique and universal, that aims at ensuring appropriate protection of all individuals in an ever-expanding digital era, in order to safeguard the respect for dignity and privacy of all and to fully enjoy the right to informational self-determination.
