The Council of Europe and the French "Commission Nationale de l' Informatique et des Libertés" (CNIL) organised this conference which took place in Strasbourg on 5 June 2014.
This annual event, which is reserved for accredited data protection authorities and observers, is a unique occasion for each represented authority to deal with subjects of common interest and to help advance the fundamental right to data protection.
For 2014, we have decided to concentrate on the theme of cooperation and will thus be working on … working better together! Cooperation between data protection authorities is valued by all of us as it impacts upon the daily functions of data protection authorities, the effectiveness of their actions and the satisfaction of those who address them. This theme, whilst raising the challenges of globalisation and internationalisation, will allow us to join forces and try to reply to the questions this raises. The goal of our discussions were to identify what we could bring to each other not only on a European but equally on a world scale.
