The 49th Bureau meeting of the Committee of Convention 108 will be held from this Wednesday 11 December 2019 and will run until Friday 13 December in Strasbourg. It will gather over 30 data protection experts representing States parties to Convention 108 as well as observers.
Participants will pursue their discussions on topical issues that have been identified by the Committee of the Convention as priority topics, such as facial recognition, personal data processed in the context of educational systems, and the evaluation and follow up mechanism under Convention 108+. The issue of the management of digital identity and of the use of biometric technologies will also be addressed in direct connection with works initiated by the African Network of Data Protection Authorities.
