European School Class of 2024 Baccalaurate Ceremony

On 29 June, the European School of Strasbourg held its 2024 Baccalaureate graduation ceremony in the Council of Europe’s newly-refurbished hemicycle.

Participants in the ceremony included teachers and students who used speeches and recorded interviews to share their thoughts about their time together at the European School, and their hopes and ambitions for the future.  A number of students of various ages also showcased their musical talent through song and by playing a range of instruments.

Speaking at the event, Council of Europe Deputy Secretary General Bjorn Berge congratulated the graduates and pointed out the value of “an international education, with a focus on diversity, languages, and on understanding the history of Europe and the wider world”, adding that “this gives you a unique perspective, and a connection to one another”.

He also reminded the graduating students that “you will have the opportunity to make a positive change to your communities, our societies, and the world around us.  Every individual counts, every contribution matters”.

European Commissioner for Budget and Administration, Johannes Hahn, also sent his good wishes to the new graduates, via video message.
