Artificial Intelligence in Education, Conference in Georgia

A conference on the topic of “Artificial Intelligence in Education”, was organised by the Georgian National Center for Teacher Professional Development, within the framework of the eTwinning programme.

Mr. Ahmed Murat Kilic, head of the Digital Transformation and E-learning Unit, Education Department (Council of Europe), attended the conference as an honored guest and speaker at the panel discussion, which was moderated by Natia Natsvlishvili, Member of the Bureau of the Council of Europe Steering Committee for Education (CDEDU).

The Council of Europe publication “Artificial Intelligence and Education a Critical View Through the Lens of Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law”, which was translated into Georgian, was presented at the Panel by the co-author Wayne Holmes (United Kingdom). 

The Panel discussion addressed the challenges created by artificial intelligence in education, and in particular, the risks and benefits that teachers should consider in their work, when integrating AI-based technologies and programs. Mr. Ahmed Murat Kilic presented CoE Education Strategy 2030 and talked about digital transformation policies in education. Participants expressed high interest in learning more about the Digital Citizenship Education European Year 2025 and other initiatives of the Council of Europe.

Natalia Ingorokva – DCE Promotor for Georgia, conducted a workshop at the conference -"Integrating Media Literacy into Formal Education". Various practical instruments were shared with the participants to ensure the adoption of DCE and Media Literacy in education institutions.

The conference was attended by 140 teachers, education experts, students, and representatives of various international organisations.
