The Council of Europe has actively supported the UN’s World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) process and its implementation ever since via the WSIS Forum and the Internet Governance Forum (IGF).
The Council of Europe has actively supported the UN’s World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) process and its implementation via the WSIS Forum and the Internet Governance Forum (IGF). On 3 June 2015, the CM adopted a Declaration on WSIS+10 review and the extension of the IGF mandate which reasserts the importance of multi-stakeholder dialogue on Internet governance in order to respond to the challenges of the Internet. A new Declaration on WSIS+20 review was adopted on 25 September 2024, as a contribution to the review of the implementation of the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society.
