“Disability ≠ Inability” Equality and Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities - Enhancing Co-ordinated Response

The Side Event will explore the link between disabilities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as action, co-operation and partnerships between regional and international organisations to ensure full protection of the human rights of persons with disabilities in the context of achieving internationally agreed SDGs.

10th Session of the Conference of States Parties to the UN CRPD (COSP)

The 10th session of the Conference of States Parties to the UN CRPD (COSP) will take place from Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 June 2017 at UN Headquarters in New York.  The Council of Europe is co-sponsoring two side events: “Reforming social services in Europe to embrace the human rights approach” and “A  journey to strengthened cooperation between the international and regional human rights mechanisms: implementation of the CRPD and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).

The Council of Europe Strategy on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities – “Human Rights: A Reality for All” guides, supports and complements the member States' efforts to build a barrier free Europe where persons with disabilities can enjoy their fundamental rights.
