A peer learning event in Albania welcomes new schools onboard

Within the framework of the project “Strengthening Democratic Citizenship Education in Albania”, a peer learning event was organised on 2-3 July 2024 by the Council of Europe to welcome 10 new schools to become part of the piloting of the Democratic Culture Labs concept.

The event was implemented in cooperation with the Quality Assurance Agency for Pre-university Education and the Ministry of Education and Sports and brought together educational practitioners and leaders to share their views and experiences on fostering a culture of democracy, inclusiveness and the Council of Europe’s values in Albanian schools by incorporating the Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture into school life. This event also took place as part of TeacherNet’s activities, a network launched by the project, and which currently has over 400 active members.

These developments also contribute towards the implementation of the recently adopted Council of Europe Education Strategy 2024-2030, “Learners First”, as TeacherNet and Democratic Culture Labs embody principles laid out in the strategy: living and learning participatory democracy from the youngest age.

The event featured a mix of interactive and collaborative discussions to encourage active participation, and inspiring learning process among participants.
