As a part of the project "Strengthening Democratic Citizenship Education in Albania”* it is foreseen to equip selected project pilot schools with the Democratic Culture Labs. The Democratic Culture Labs project was developed in close cooperation between the project team, the donor, the Ministry of Education and Sports of Albania and the Agency for Quality Assurance of Pre-University Education (AQAPUE).

Democratic Culture Labs will serve as incubators of democratic culture competencies for in and out of schools, further strengthening the democratic school governance, enhancing access to interactive e-learning tools, sustaining peer exchanges and teachers’ professional network, etc. The initiative was also discussed at TeacherNet - a network of teachers representing the Democratic schools.

The project team met the leadership of “Jani Minga” secondary school in Vlora,  with a view to placing one of the first Democratic Culture Labs in the country.

“We are very proud to be a part of the Council of Europe pilot programme and we are grateful for the support we receive and for an opportunity to try the new initiative. We hope that the Democratic Culture Labs will contribute to strengthening culture of democracy in and out of school and that the piloting will be a success”, highlighted Arjana Brakaj, Director of “Jani Minga” school.
