Throughout 2024, Slovenia is piloting a number of initiatives on digital citizenship, in view of its support to the upcoming 2025 European Year of Digital Citizenship Education.
The Slovenian Ministry of Education recognises the importance of all aspects of the Council of Europe’s framework for digital citizenship and has therefore announced a public tender entitled “Digital citizenship in educational institutions – strengthening competences for a digital society in education”.
The main objective of this public call is to raise awareness of the relevance of digital citizenship and to develop competences with a focus on digital citizenship in the context of education.
This initiative is aimed at a wide audience, including the management and professional staff of kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, children, students, parents and guardians, educational researchers and policy makers in the field of education.
The project aims to achieve the following objectives:
- Develop competences with a focus on digital citizenship in the context of education
- Testing and evaluating content and approaches to develop and strengthen competences with a focus on digital citizenship among managers and professionals, learners and parents
- Developing a proposal for a reference framework for the development of digital citizenship in the context of education.
The call for proposals and the project are important steps in preparing society for the digital age. By promoting digital citizenship, Slovenia not only wants to equip individuals with the necessary skills to navigate the digital world, but also to promote a more inclusive, informed and engaged society.
The public call is co-funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility and Next Generation EU. The call will be implemented in line with the strategic plan under the "Smart, Sustainable and Inclusive Growth" development area.
