This EduTalk aimed to contribute to the Council’s work with identifying and addressing risks created by new technologies, in particular AI, being deployed in education settings.
The invited speakers elaborated on their experiences with and approaches to tackling privacy and data protection concerns from three different, but complementary perspectives by discussing the following questions:
- Do we understand how data protection regulations apply to AI based tools in education?
- Are we aware of all the risks such tools pose, and do we have legal instruments to address them?
- How do we build trust in AI-based tools in education settings by involving all key actors: pupils, parents, and teachers?
