75 years of protecting human rights, democracy and rule of law in Europe - 75 schools to pilot better education for sustainable democratic future in Albania: Students from the Council of Europe’s pilot schools meet the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania on the occasion of 75th anniversary of the Council of Europe

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Council of Europe, 20 young representatives of student governments from the Council of Europe’s pilot high schools Eqrem Çabej, Sami Frashëri, Qemal Stafa, Aleks Buda dhe Protagonistët were welcomed at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs by H.E. Minister Igli Hasani, as a part of official celebration events.

This event provided a unique opportunity for students to get acquainted with the Council of Europe and the Ministry’s roles in promoting human rights, democracy and the rule of law.

In a lively exchange, students had the opportunity to address a range of topics, including human rights and the challenges they face in their daily lives. The young participants not only asked questions, but also shared their thoughts on these important topics, incorporating presentations of initiatives they had undertaken as part of the Council of Europe project "Strengthening Democratic Citizenship Education in Albania”*.

This interactive and inspiring activity continued with a presentation of various ideas and activities by the young participants through an exhibition designed by the students themselves. Through their artistic works, they showcased their views on the Council of Europe’s role in their lives and in protecting their rights as well as human rights and the rule of law, in general.

Participants left the meeting with a new perspective and increased motivation to engage in building a better future for society and themselves and the project hopes to continue to support them.

The project Strengthening Democratic Citizenship Education in Albania is implemented by the Council of Europe and financed by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. The schools in the capital are among the 75 pilot schools across the country engaged in the project.
