On 16-19 May, two representatives of the EUR-OPA Network of Scientific Centres attended the 8th International Wildland Fire Conference in Porto, Portugal.
Professor Johann Goldammer, Director of the Global Fire Monitoring Center (GFMC) at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry (Freiburg University) delivered on behalf of EUR-OPA a statement “Towards the Development of an International Landscape Fire Governance Framework”.
Dr Sofia Karma, Director of the Athens-based European Center for Forest Fires made a presentation on “Inclusive Community Engagement in Disaster Preparedness and Response focusing on Wildfires and the generated Smoke: Best Practices and Lessons Learned”.
