The EUR-OPA Committee of Permanent Correspondents and the Directors of Specialised Centres held their 82nd Joint meeting in Paris on 21 and 22 November 2024. The main aim of the meeting was to discuss the implementation of the Medium-Term Plan 2021-2024 and to review the ongoing and proposed projects implemented by the network of specialised centres. The meeting was also the occasion to discuss EUR-OPA’s contribution to the work of the Council of Europe’s Multidisciplinary Group on the Environment (GME), in particular as regards the adoption of the Strategy on Environment.
The permanent correspondents and directors of specialised centres also reflected upon the working paper on “State obligations and people’s right to be protected from the serious effects of global warming: realization of the right to a healthy and sustainable environment in the face of risks and threats of natural hazards”, authored by Professor Elisabeth Lambert, legal expert and research director in the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), and decided to continue their work in this domain in 2025 taking into account the aforementioned Strategy on Environment.
