On 13 September 2023, the Earthquake Planning and Protection Organization and the European Centre on Prevention and Forecasting of Earthquakes (ECPFE) organised in Athens a workshop on Seismic Assessment and Retrofitting of Masonry and Preserved Structures. The  workshop constituted one of the milestones of a joint project between the European Centre on the Vulnerability of Industrial and Lifeline Systems (ECILS), from North Macedonia and the ECPFE, implemented under the aegis of the EUR-OPA Network of Scientific Centres.

In addition to the exchange of know-how at the workshop, both centres are collecting preliminary data from masonry and preserved structures in North Macedonia Ohrid and in Bitola and discussing the lessons learned from the implementation of the new Greek Code on Seismic assessment and retrofitting of masonry structures (KAΔΕΤ). The Executive Secretary of EUR-OPA addressed the participants online.
