Secondary schools “Liceul Teoretic Aurel Vlaicu Orastie” (Romania), “Ibrahim Kodra High Schoo”l (Albania) and “Colegiul National Mircea cel Batran Valcea” (Romania) received the winning prizes at the “Olympiad on better knowledge against disasters” Award Ceremony. The international competition was organised in the framework of BeSafeNet project, implemented by the Cyprus Civil Defence/Ministry of Interior, and sponsored by the European and Mediterranean Major Hazards Agreement (EUR-OPA). Its main purpose is to raise awareness about the nature, causes and potentially devastating effects of natural and technological disasters, thereby using the internet to promote safety and a global risk culture among secondary schools in Europe and of all citizens.
