The EUR-OPA Major Hazards Agreement and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) are organising a Workshop to discuss different ecosystem-based solutions for disaster risk reduction. One of the objectives of the meeting will be to harness existing knowledge, experiences and practices in biodiversity conservation and ecosystem management that demonstrate the role of ecosystems in meeting disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation objectives.
Participants will also identify national policy and planning processes or mechanisms (such as sustainable development) that can be targeted for mainstreaming ecosystem-based disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation approaches.
