1986 - Arnhem

The Arnhem townArnhem is the capital of the province of Gelderland, lying on the Rhine near to the Netherlands’ border with Germany.  It is a dynamic, modern city with a wide range of commercial, cultural and artistic activities.  It seeks to achieve harmony between opposites, namely between culture and nature, industry and tourism, and modernity and tradition.

Arnhem has shown a remarkable European spirit for many years.  It is twinned with the English towns of Coventry and Croydon, with which it organises regular exchanges between young people and cultural associations, and is also twinned with Wuhan in China.
