1964 - Innsbruck

The Innsbruck townInnsbruck is an Austrian town in the west of the country on the northern slope of the Alps, and is the capital of the province of Tirol.

Its geographical position and its history make it a bridge between Italy and Germany, between Northern and Southern, Eastern and Western Europe. Its name moreover expresses this vocation of forming a bridge which connects rather than separates peoples, one to which the town has remained true: it maintains successful twinning arrangements with the towns of Aalborg (Denmark), Krakow (Poland), Freiburg-im-Breisgau (Germany), Grenoble (France), Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Tbilisi (Georgia) under which frequent cultural, youth and student exchanges take place regularly.
