2010 - Kharkiv

The Kharkiv townKharkiv is the second-largest city in Ukraine and the administrative capital of Kharkiv Oblast. As a major cultural, scientific, educational and industrial centre, it has developed an extensive network of international contacts through its 16 twinnings worldwide, including with former winners of the Europe Prize such as Bologna (Italy) and Nuremberg (Germany). A large number of delegations meet in Kharkiv every year, thereby enabling it to co-operate with both east and west European countries.  International events like the “Kharkiv civic festival”, the international junior football tournament and the competitive ballroom dancing festival attract numerous participants from the twin towns every year.
