1990 - Plouguerneau

The Plouguerneau townPlouguerneau is a town in the Finistère department in Brittany.  It has an impressive syncretic mix of Celtic and Christian heritage, with menhirs and Gaulish steles standing alongside churches and chapels. Its residents’ hospitality makes for a thriving tourist trade.  A dynamic twinning committee, an enthusiastic public and leaders driven by the European ideal have turned Plouguerneau into a model French municipality in terms of twinning and European commitment.  In spite of its small size, since 1967, Plouguerneau has maintained a successful twinning with the German town of Edingen-Neckarhausen (Baden Wurttemberg), which is over 1,100 km away.  It is also twinned with St Germans in Cornwall (United Kingdom).
