1956 - Puteaux
Puteaux is a French municipality on the left bank of the Seine in the Île-de-France region. It has shown itself to be at the leading edge of modernity by harbouring two of the most daring contemporary architectural creations. At the same time it has one of the finest town halls in France, girded by its buildings dedicated to culture and exchange.
The town has consistently developed relations with foreign towns. The initial goal of tightening the links between European nations to reconcile them has given way to cultural and economic exchanges and sports meetings between twinned towns.
Whether by twinning pledge or pact of friendship, many towns in Europe and the world have officialised their links with Puteaux which is twinned with Esch-sur-Alzette (Luxembourg), Mödling (Austria), Offenbach (Germany) (joint winner of the Europe Prize), Velletri (Italy) and Zemun (Serbia).
Puteaux has also signed a pact of friendship with the towns of Braga (Portugal), Gan Yavne (Israel), Kati (Mali) and Opocno (Czech Republic).
