1970 - Sierre

The Sierre townSierre is a Swiss municipality in the Valais canton. With its reputation for being the sunniest town in Switzerland, it is nicknamed “Sun City”. The diversity which typifies its neighbourhoods is also true of its activities, of which the more modern have been able to develop without ever harming the traditional occupations. The town has a well-established twinning tradition.

This practice, dating back to the early post-war years, was developed as a preventive measure against European conflicts. It has remained very lively in Sierre, which belongs to the “European Cities” league on the same footing as Aubenas (France), Cesenatico (Italy), Delfzijl (Netherlands), Schwarzenbek (Germany) and Zelzate (Belgium).
