2014 - Słupsk

The Słupsk townLocated in the north of Poland, Słupsk is a key economic, cultural, scientific and tourist centre in the region of Pomerania.  Built on both sides of the river Słupia, less than 20 km from the Baltic Sea, the city is regarded as a tourist treasure, lying in a region with many forests, lakes and rivers.

Słupsk is a pioneer in international co-operation, having signed a trilateral agreement in 1988 with Carlisle (United Kingdom) and Flensburg (Germany), leading to exchanges of experience in the field of local self-government.  The many activities which it has developed are also aimed at residents, organisations, foundations and educational and cultural institutions.

Słupsk shares its know-how with several partners from eastern Europe, in particular, Grodno (Belarus), Archangelsk and St Petersburg (Russian Federation) and Yevpatoria (Ukraine).  It is twinned with around 10 cities in Europe and Asia.
