2013 - Tata

The Tata townLocated in the county of Komarom-Esztergom, west of Budapest, Tata is a small baroque town on the motorway between Vienna and Budapest.  Its various monuments, the most famous of which is the Renaissance castle, fully reflect its vibrant history.  The local history collection and the open-air geological museum have acquired a well-deserved popularity. While Tata is attractive all year round, it is especially so during summer when various cultural festivals, open-air concerts and sports competitions are held there.

Tata has developed an extensive network of diverse exchanges with its nine twin towns.  More than 60 events organised in 2012  allowed for large numbers of cultural, sporting and school exchanges, making Tata a model for Hungary in promoting the European ideal at local level.
