1965 - Tübingen
This is a German town in the Land of Baden-Württemberg, 40 km south of Stuttgart. Since 1500 it has prospered peacefully. This “young old town” thus prepares the future while remaining embedded in one of the oldest heritage settings. It is principally famous for its University, one of Germany’s oldest.
Tübingen concluded very felicitous twinnings with the towns of Aix-en-Provence (France), Ann Arbor (United States), Durham (United Kingdom), Aigle and Monthey (Switzerland), then with Kingersheim (France), Moshi (Tanzania), Petrozavodsk (Russian Federation) and Villa El Salvador (Peru). The town has also developed friendships with the towns of Kilchberg (Switzerland) and Perugia (Italy), involving the municipality in the social sphere. Furthermore, the town has been able to extend its intermunicipal contacts to the 10,000 or so students of its university and to establish friendly ties with the universities of Durham and Aix-en-Provence.
