European Day of Languages: how the Language Charter contributes to maintaining and developing regional or minority languages

On the occasion of the European Day of Languages (26 September) and in the context of the 25th anniversary of the entry into force of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages (the Language Charter), a new video on its impact is now available. The Language Charter aims to maintain and develop Europe’s cultural diversity, through the protection and promoting of Europe’s historical regional or minority languages.

The video showcases specific examples from states parties to the Language Charter of measures put in place in different sectors from private and public life to guarantee speakers of regional or minority languages in these countries can use them on their daily life.
