Extraordinary Meeting of the Governmental Committee of the European Social Charter

The Governmental Committee of the European Social Charter and the European Code of Social Security is holding an extraordinary meeting on 3 July 2024, in Vilnius.

The meeting will entail a detailed discussion about the role and responsibilities of the Committee, as it develops in the process of the reform of its working methods. Additionally, the Committee will prepare its contribution for the upcoming High-level Conference. This preparation will include the review and approval of key points in a statement to be presented by the Chair during the conference.

The Committee will prepare for a joint meeting with the European Committee of Social Rights (ECSR). Discussions will focus on key topics and issues to be addressed, with a proposal to increase the frequency and involvement of joint meetings beyond the bureau level. A strategy for presenting and discussing these proposals with the ECSR will also be developed.

This extraordinary meeting in Vilnius is a significant event for the Governmental Committee, offering a platform for crucial discussions on the present and future roles within the European Social Charter framework and fostering closer collaboration with the European Committee of Social Rights.
