The European Committee of Social Rights (ECSR) will present its review of social rights and the cost-of-living crisis on Wednesday 19 March 2025 (10:30-12:00 am CET) during an event which will be also broadcast live.
With 41 States Parties submitting so-called ad hoc reports on their responses to the cost-of-living crisis and having received input from other key stakeholders such as social partners, civil society organisations, and human rights institutions, the ECSR has carried out an analysis mapping the challenges encountered in areas such as social protection, employment and wages, housing, energy and food as well as the impact on vulnerable groups.
On this basis, the ECSR’s review provides guidance and makes recommendations to States Parties on how to ensure the protection and promotion of social rights in times of economic strain. These recommendations should play a crucial role in shaping policies and ensuring that social rights remain a priority as economic pressures continue.
