On 18 August 2022, the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs organised a national roundtable discussion on the implementation of the European Social Charter (link to programme in Finnish). The discussion addressed a range of issues, including the on-going Charter reform process, the Charter’s minimum income guarantee, the challenges to social rights in the current geo-political situation and the organisation of the collective complaints procedure in the Finnish context. The roundtable, which took place in Helsinki, was chaired by Krista Oinonen, Director, Unit for Human Rights Courts and Conventions, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and gathered around 30 participants from various ministries, the social partners, civil society as well as the world of academia.

The Council of Europe was represented by Henrik Kristensen, Deputy Head of the Department of Social Rights.
