On 15 and 16 April 2025, the European Youth Foundation visited the international activity “Visibility Matters” organised by the Youth of European Nationalities (YEN), as part of their 2025 annual work plan “Minority Youth in the Spotlight.”
The seminar, held in Opole, Poland, brought together 37 participants from 14 countries with the aim of supporting young people from minorities in developing and sharing self-determined images of themselves and their communities. Through group workshops participants explored various ways to combat stereotypes and prejudices, and to increase their visibility and self-expression as tools to raise awareness about their needs and interests, and to influence how their communities are perceived by the public.
The seminar also contributed to networking and peer support among minority youth in Europe. Providing a platform for networking is especially important, as it offers minority youth to build a community, exchange good practices, and support each other.
The outcomes of this first international activity will serve as input for the remaining activities (international meetings and trainings) within the annual work plan. The expected outputs include creative actions in the public sphere, as well as enhanced creativity and communication skills related to documentation, video-making, and graphic design - aimed at increasing the visibility of youth minority organisations.
This activity is supported by the European Youth Foundation thanks to an annual work plan grant.
