The European Youth Foundation supports local and national youth projects through its pilot activity grants. The next deadline to apply is 1 September 2023, for projects starting any time within the month of December 2023.

Pilot activity grants support projects that address young people’s needs and challenges at a local level, in relation to the priorities of the youth sector of the Council of Europe. The projects need to have a clear link to the local context and address the priorities of the youth sector of the Council of Europe. Projects should be based on innovative methodologies, have a clear youth work dimension, be based on non-formal education principles and have local impact. Projects must also be organised by, with and for young people (between 15-30 years old). Project formats are flexible, and this type of EYF grant can be used for training sessions, meetings with experts, local workshops, local actions, visits, campaigns, workshops in schools, festivals etc.

The maximum project duration is one year.

The maximum grant for a project is €15 000. The EYF can cover all the real costs of the activity up to this amount. Budgets can include up to 7% of the grant awarded for administrative costs, ie heating, water, electricity costs, office rent, and insurance, and up to 10% of the grant awarded for staff costs for project coordination. Only regional networks of youth NGOs, national youth NGOs and local youth NGOs registered in the EYF database can apply for pilot activity grants. NGOs that are not yet registered with the EYF must send their registration by latest 15 August 2023.
