Visit of the EYF to an international activity of Rural Youth Europe on food sustainability and young people's wellbeing

On 31 July and 1 August 2023, the EYF secretariat carried out a monitoring visit to an international activity that is part of the 2023 annual work plan of the network Rural Youth Europe. The overall aim of the annual work plan is to support young people’s access to the right to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health by building the knowledge and tools youth clubs and organisations need to support young people in understanding and attaining this right.

The activity visited was an international seminar for 62 participants (young people and youth leaders from rural areas in 12 countries) in Klagenfurt, Austria. The main focus of the activity was the topic of sustainability of food production and its links to youth wellbeing. As a result from this gathering, participants will develop ideas for how youth workers can integrate the topic of circular economy and health nutrition in their work with rural youth and also a policy brief on these topics.

The activity is supported by the European Youth Foundation through a annual work plan grant.
