EYF monitoring visit to the annual work plan of the Youth and Environment Europe (YEE)

On 14 and 15 July 2024, the EYF secretariat carried out a monitoring visit to an international activity of the YEE annual work plan “Cultivating Resilience: Empowering Youth to Address Eco-Anxiety”. The aim of the visit was to monitor implementation of the project and promote further co-operation with the Council of Europe and the EYF.

The international activity was an onsite workshop “The different faces of eco-anxiety”, bringing together representatives of YEE member organisations from Albania, Azerbaijan, France, Georgia, Portugal, Spain, Turkiye and the United Kingdom.

During two and half days, participants and trainers discussed the impact of climate change on the mental health of young people, the psychological aspects of eco-anxiety, its potential consequences and how to address them. While planning actions to promote youth participation in their own countries, participants considered eco-anxiety as an argument to be used to advocate for the right to a healthy environment. Following the workshop, participants will promote awareness raising on the topic in their own countries and support an international social media awareness raising campaign on eco-anxiety.

This annual work plan is co-funded by the EYF through its annual work plan grant programme 2024.
