On 18 March, the Department for the Execution of Judgments met with a delegation from the Office of the Representative of the Republic of Armenia on International Legal Matters. The aim of the visit was to enhance the capacities of the Office’s new staff and to further strengthen domestic capacities for the effective implementation of the Court’s judgments.
The Department provided an overview of the process of the supervision of the execution of the European Court’s judgments, its working methods and possibilities for cooperation. The meeting further allowed for an exchange regarding the status of the pending cases concerning the Republic of Armenia.
The programme of the study visit also included meetings with representatives of other entities of the Council of Europe, including the Registry of the Court.
The study visit was organised by the Co-operation Programmes Division of the Department for the implementation of Human Rights, Justice and legal co-operation standards, DGI, within the framework of the Project “Further Support to the Implementation of the ECHR through effective execution of the European Court of Human Rights judgments in Armenia” implemented within the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2023-2026.
