Training for Turkish lawyers on the supervision of the execution of the European Court’s judgments

On 7 April, the Department for the Execution of Judgments held the third webinar in its ongoing training series addressed to practicing lawyers in Türkiye. The webinar, organised in collaboration with the Union of Turkish Bar Associations, brought together 113 lawyers from the bar associations of Osmaniye, Kahramanmaraş, Mersin, Hatay, Burdur, and Isparta.

The training focuses on the supervision process for the execution of the European Court judgments and good practices regarding the submission of communications under Rule 9.1 of the Rules of the Committee of Ministers for the supervision of the execution of judgments and of the terms of friendly settlements.

A first session was held on 23 January, and a second session on 13 February. The second webinar was attended by 99 lawyers from the bar associations of Bitlis, Erzurum, Muş, Şırnak, Iğdır, Malatya and Erzincan. The series is scheduled to continue at regular intervals, involving lawyers from all bar associations in Türkiye. Through these training sessions, the Department aims to enhance the visibility of the execution process of the Court’s judgments among practising lawyers in Türkiye and highlight the importance of Rule 9.1 submissions.

The next session is planned to take place in the first half of May.
