On 12 March, the Department for the Execution of Judgments met with a delegation from the Network of Ombudsmen of the Netherlands, together with the Permanent Representation of the Netherlands to the Council of Europe. The delegation consisted of the National Ombudsman, the local ombudspersons from Rotterdam-Rijnmond, Den Haag/Leidschendam-Voorburg, Assen, Oost-Gelre and Utrecht, as well as representatives from their offices.
The Department presented the supervision of the execution of the European Court’s judgments as well as its main working methods, including its procedure for the possible involvement of national human rights institutions in the execution process. The visit further allowed for an exchange regarding the pending cases concerning the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
