On 17-18th October 2023, the Committee of Experts on Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation  (‘SLAPPs’) held its fourth meeting. Mr Patrick Penninckx, Director of Information Society Department, opened the meeting. The Chair of the Committee, Ms Karmen Turk, also welcomed participants. The discussion focused on the finalisation of the draft Recommendation on Countering the Use of SLAPPs, as well as the draft Explanatory Memorandum which will accompany the Recommendation. The Expert Committee reached an agreement regarding the content of both documents. The Recommendation, together with its Explanatory Memorandum, will be forwarded to the CDMSI for discussion and possible approval at its next Plenary meeting, on 29 November - 1 December 2023.
