On May 24th, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, in cooperation with the NGO “Human Rights Platform,” has initiated the provision of free legal assistance for journalists and other media actors (fixers, bloggers). These consultations are free of charge and, if necessary, include:
- Legal support for editorial offices and journalists in civil, administrative, and criminal court cases at the national level;
- Representation of media workers’ interests in the European Court of Human Rights;
- Preparation of legal documents such as objections, lawsuits, applications, etc.;
- Legal support in the implementation of the Law of Ukraine “On Media” in editorial offices;
- Written consultations.
In addition, the Ministry, in cooperation with the NGO “Women in Media” and the NGO “Center for Democratic Reforms and Media,” has initiated the provision of free consultations on implementing the principles of gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) in the media sector.
The institution published on its website, under the section "For Journalists," useful materials for journalists and resources related to the protection of their professional activities, including those provided by the Council of Europe.
